As much as we'd like to do our bit for the environment when it comes to clothing, it hasn't been made easy for us. With 'ethical' clothing (that looks good) so hard to find, it's such a slog getting your hands on each individual brand that you'll end up driving around town, emitting more energy than you would anyway. So when will someone get all of these brands into one place? Look no further, because that's just what french based ethical trainer company Veja have done.
Their new store, Centre Commercial, is a collection of brands with a focus on local manufacture and ethical production. While usually that means clothes that resemble the stuff your gran might give you for Christmas, in this case it means labels like SNS Herning alongside La Botte Gardianne and Bodkin - two brands who use ecologically tanned leather and organic cotton respectively. Our only issue? It's in the wrong country for us, launching in Paris not too long ago. We can only hope they roll out the concept soon so we can save on petrol.
