If you're in London this weekend, you could do a lot worse than to nip down to Lamb's Conduit Street to see the excellent new collection from Private White V.C. Made at the Cooper and Stollbrand factory in Manchester and designed by former head of menswear at Dunhill Nick Ashley, the label's inspiration is built on the everyday wardrobe of WWI soldier Private Jack White, a Victoria Cross recipient who became a clothesmaker.

While the mood is classic, the fabrics and function are modern - everything here is machine washable. Highlights include the lightweight raincoats and shirt/coat hybrids, plus a second stock drop this week has seen the introduction of two and three piece suits.
