Are you ready for pink trousers?

We dipped our toes into the tantalising world of bright-coloured chinos earlier in the week. If that was the beginner class, this one's for more advanced proponents of colourful trouser wearing.

Given the increased variety for pink and red trousers, it seem you no longer have to be a retired Chelsea property developer to pull them off. Here's three grades, depending on how brave you're feeling:

Most Popular

Pink
Regardless of what else is going on in the world, there will always be a niche but dedicated market for pink trousers. Ralph Lauren obviously came to that conclusion long before us, and has been exploiting it for a long time now. As a rule of thumb, sugar pink should only be worn within a mile radius of the Mediterranean. A pair of his Polo preppy slim fit chinos will set you back £155 over at my wardrobe.

Salmon
Perhaps as a backup plan to the overwhelming pinkness of the last pair, Mr Lauren begins the graduation toward the redder end of the scale with these faded, loose fit ‘red’ chinos. Best-suited to a sunny Sunday barbecue - preferably where polo is being played. £120 at Mr Porter.

Red
If the dubious redness of the last pair is putting you off, Oliver Spencer’s Worker trouser in ‘Shakespeare Ruby’ eliminates any uncertainty. A summertime allrounder. £135
