Tony Montana as style icon? Judging by the influx of floral prints and Hawaiian shirts making their way into stores, the cult of Scarface is back.
In a move that was almost as surprising as the return of cargo pants (see our March issue), designers seem to have taken everyone's favourite fictional Cuban gangster to their hearts. They've (thankfully) skipped over Tony's white suit phase in favour of what Montana wore during his rise through Miami's criminal ranks - that means floral prints and hawaiian shirts aplenty.
Montana usually wore them with chinos and we'd say that if you were to attempt the Hawaiian shirt today, that would still be the safest trouser to wear them with. Just ensure the chinos are of the flat front, tapered kind - or you'll be far closer to aping James May than any sane person would want. And leave the chainsaw at home.
