Every once in a while something lands on our desks that causes a stir. Prada’s ‘Fantasy Fall Winter 2010 Look Book’ has done just that.
With art direction by OMA alongside Alexander Reichert and Fausto Fantinuoli and photography by Phil Meech, this over-sized manual is a visual delight, featuring some of the most eye-catching and innovative fashion illustration we’ve seen for some time.
It reads like a modern day comic. Caricatures are mixed with reality to create a playful portrayal of Prada’s key autumnal pieces. Caramel clothing tones are contrasted with pop-art bright backdrops whilst honeycomb knits and vivid prints add texture to the fantastical scenes. It's a far cry from the sense of ‘nothingness’ and ‘banality’ that Prada informed Women's Wear Daily it sought sought to create for this 70s inspired AW10 collection.
However, with only one copy in the office, there’s a fight over who can take it home for their coffee table! To keep the peace, here’s a selection of our favourite pages, while the whole book can be viewed at www.prada.com. Sarah Wilson
