Best known for an American-owned chocolate company, The NEC and Duran Duran, Birmingham was new terrain for the Esquire fashion team. But, following a good run in Bristol, spirits were high, the sun was out and we were eager to find the best-dressed man of the West Midlands.
Following a nose around business-y Brindley Place – where we were chirpily told that it would cost £150, and a few hundred hours of paperwork, to take any photographs – we hotfooted it to the city centre to scour the bars surrounding Brum’s shopping citadel, the Bullring.
Perhaps due to the pre-rush hour slot, pickings were slim. That is until we stumbled upon one of Birmingham’s few remaining independent clothiers, Autograph, where we were met an array of potential candidates. This morning saw the team trawl Birmingham’s Institute of Art and Design, but following a spot of ‘on-campus’ canvassing we set our sights for Liverpool.
