Cameron’s quite right of course; it’s ridiculous the Conservatives going on like this. Men who aspire to run a country should do themselves, and the public, the favour of putting on a tie. Can I suggest these two from Drakes’ spring summer collection?
If a man really wants to go with an open collar there’s more to making a success of it than merely dispensing with the tie. The shirt needs to have a sufficiently stiff and sizeable collar not to collapse, and having a substantial placket will help – there is also a special way to make shirts designed to be worn open at the neck as I mentioned here. However, in reality the only time a man in a suit should dispense with his tie is if it’s after midnight and he’s wearing a dinner jacket.
