Esquire was at the opening of the new Louis Vuitton store in London's Westfield shopping complex last night, complete with temporary exhibit created by Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller.
Louis Vuitton and Westfield London have commissioned Deller to create a set of urban city gardens to mark the store's opening. “A good garden is a work of art in itself and the British love of gardens extends from the practical allotment to the manicured lawn," explains the 2004 Turner winner. "In London we have to appreciate nature wherever we can find it and my installation will reflect this; combining the strange beauty of the scarecrow with a mobile urban vegetable patch." After two weeks the Louis Vuitton “garden" will be donated to a regeneration project in Hammersmith.
