Sometimes a watch transcends the notion of merely telling the time. One such example that caught our eye at the Basle watch fair is this incredible offering from Harry Winston.
Ditching the conventional hands and cyclical dial, expert watchmaker Jean-Marc Wiederrecht and designer Eric Giroud have teamed up to create a watch where time is displayed through two parallel strips of diamonds. That’s right, diamonds -with red garnets pointing out the right minute and hour, totally no less than 66 baguette-cut diamonds and 6 garnets on your wrist. No wonder its been put into a category marked 'hyperluxury'.
The strap is black alligator leather with a white gold buckle, and the watch itself is water resistant up to 30 metres and has a 72 hour power reserve. Not surprisingly, the price tag is estimated to be a decidedly hostile $180,000, with only 100 available.
