There’s a good chance you’ve got this far in your life without owning a single piece of linen clothing.
After all, the light fabric has something of a whiff of Poirot about it. Functional, yes, practical, yes, but not the sort of thing you desperately need.
But that might be about to change. After all, summer’s looming, and with it comes the muggy commute to work. The office with defunct air conditioning. A stream of wedding invitations.
Linen has a natural breathability to it, making it a good fabric to wear in warmer months. The irregularity of the yarn means it wrinkles quite easily, which isn't as big a problem as you might think. In fact, it can give your outfit a slightly rakish quality to it, perfect for summer weddings where you can play with the dress code a bit.
If you’re tempted to dabble in linen for the first time, a linen blend suit is a nice entry point. We like these linen/cotton pieces from H&M, which come in a light blue shade that’s just as suitable in the office as it is off-duty.
Even better, you can wear the jacket or trousers as separates and get twice as much use out of them. Not bad for less than £100.
