And here's the flip side of the proportional coin. French actor Gregory Fitoussi looks great except for one glaring problem: that tiny little bow tie. It actually works with the shrunken proportions of his collar, but everything would feel much more cohesive if the lapels of his suit were skinny enough to match.

Wearing this much white at once is a tricky move, but Bomer pulls it off by keeping things casual and adding a textured blue sport coat to break things up. If monochrome seems intimidating to you, feel free to try a similar maneuver.

The jacket is great. The V-neck T-shirt is questionable—he'd probably look better in a crewneck—but passes muster nonetheless. The problem is those jeans. Washed-out and ill-fitting, they drag the entire outfit down. If you must wear jeans with a blazer, slim and dark is the easiest way to avoid a similar mistake.

Here's another tie problem, though Louis Garrel could have fixed it then and there—if he'd only noticed what was going wrong. See how the tie stops about an inch above his trousers? That's too short. It should hit right at the waistline.

You'll probably notice the white dinner jacket first, and that's totally understandable. It's a classic piece, though, in this day and age, it's also a daring one. But look closer and you'll notice that his trousers and bow tie are both midnight blue. This is how you break from the black-tie pack while keeping your style on point.

OK. One more bit of tie advice: Don't wear one that looks like this. That is all.

Airport style can be tough, no doubt. And yes, Mark Ronson is a certified Cool Guy who can get away with almost any outfit. But it's highly unlikely that you or I or anyone else should be wearing a double-breasted tux jacket to fly.

This look, however, is pretty damn good. A dressed-down suit and a crewneck sweater are the perfect way to stay comfortable on a flight while still looking presentable when you arrive at your destination. The only room for improvement we see? The shoes. Clean white sneakers would have been a better call.

It's the most casual look of the entire bunch, but Usher manages to make it work by keeping the colors understated and nailing the fit.

He looks great from mid-shin up, but the deep break in his trousers is making him look shorter than he actually is. Get yourself to a tailor and hem your pants unless you, too, want to lose valuable visual inches.

Firth has a bit of an issue with overlong pants, too, but really we just wanted to point out how good his tux looks. This is why you can never go wrong with the classics.

Then again, if you're looking to break with convention, there are worse leads to follow than Shia LaBeouf's. Batshit performance art aside, the combination of a slim suit, subtly patterned shirt, and expertly executed air tie is a damn good one.
