We like Bose at Esquire. New headphone brands come and go but the 52-year-old Massachusetts corporation maintains its position for audio excellence. What's more they really understand comfort. For our money their QuietComfort 15 over-ear model, now discontinued, remain among the most satisfying headphones we've ever used.

The company has just announced its first foray into the wireless market, with QC and sport models. With microphones inside and outside the earcups, the QC35 measures and sends unwanted sounds to two proprietary digital electronic chips, one for each ear, which respond with an equal and opposite signal to cancel the noise.

There's a 20-hour battery life per charge, they connect wirelessly custom-designed Bluetooth and pack the aforementioned Bose comfort – ideal for extended home listening and travel alike.

Available from 15 June, priced £289.95
