While we wait for Sonos to unveil its long-teased voice-activated speaker, we can content ourselves with this, the US audio company's first new launch since 2015.
A second attempt at simple, standout home theatre audio, Playbase is aimed at the 70 per cent of people Sonos say don't wall-mount their TVs. The wide profile means it can accommodate sets of up to 60-inches, while its sleek, minimalist design is intended not to distract from the action on the screen.
There's ten speakers – six mid-range, three tweeters, and one woofer – meaning this innocuous-looking box is impressively punchy. Like Sonos' other offerings, you can also use it as a connected music player.
