So what was he up to when Esquire launched back in 1991? "I was working in the office that I based a future sitcom on," he told us. "I had also just launched my 'I’d better get fat for my thirties' campaign. Both were huge successes obviously."

And who has been Ricky's all-time heroes of the last 20 years? "I’ve kept the same ones (Ali, Darwin, Laurel and Hardy) but added a couple, such as Christopher Hitchens."
