In case you hadn't heard, it's our 20th birthday. And in honour of this happy landmark, we've done something a bit different for our April issue. Instead of just one cover, we decided to hand responsibility to a whole host of people we've admired over the last two decades. The results hit the shops this week in a run of limited-edition covers that form our 20th anniversary Take Cover project. We'll be putting a different cover up every day on the site throughout March so watch this space.

Let's start at the beginning. The character with the boggled eyes and rather fetching moustache is Esquire's very own mascot, first gracing the cover of US Esquire back in January 1934. For that, the second issue in the magazine's history, he was seen scaling a giant Martini glass.

Not much has changed, he still likes the finer things in life and always looks the part - here dressed head to toe in Hugo Boss. We brought him out of retirement in 2007 and he's been in and around the magazine ever since. You can see Esky's fashion shoot in full in the April issue, out this week.
