We're pretty taken with the array of compact-cum-SLR hybrids currently saturating the better end of the camera market. We featured Fuji's gorgeous FinePix X100 last month, and this time round it's the turn of German optical experts Leica, and their equally good looking D Lux 5.

Thankfully, it's more than just a pretty face. Offering a glut of photographic innovations, the D Lux 5 features settings ranging from "wide-angle architecture" to "reportage",  alongside HD video function (a requisite for any camera worth its salt these days) and, in addition, the  exceptional lens - particularly in consideration of the camera's miniature proportions - allows for superior performance in the most barren of conditions. Oh, and on top of all that, it's rather lovely to look at - or did we mention that already?
