Polly Morgan may be one of the worst kept secrets in contemporary art, but unlike many of her peers, Morgan's work - which consists of a series of transcendental taxidermy creations - more than warrants the attention it receives.

Morgan, one of the 70 Brilliant Brits featured in our July issue, has just opened a seminal solo show of new work at London's Haunch of Venison gallery. Entitled "Psychopomps", after the series of creatures from Greek mythology said to carry souls into the afterlife, the exhibition - despite an abundance of exposed skeletons and stuffed birds- is an elegant, and occasionally whimsical take on the moribund form.

From a cluster of goldfinches lifting their cage above the ground, to a scarlet cardinal nestled within a blackened human ribcage, held aloft by a bouquet of brightly-coloured balloons, the show's lightness of touch and assured aesthetic ensures it's more than worth a look.
