The Hay Festival is now in full swing, but if you like your lit-fests a little less, well, literary, you might want to consider booking in for the Port Eliot Festival in July. Of course there are some renowned authors attending (Jez Butterworth, Geoff Dyer, Margaret Drabble), but there's also a whole heap of other stuff to do — heck, you probably don't have to get within an inch of a book if you don't fancy.

Representing the art types, there's photographer Martin Parr, potter Grayson Perry, illustrator Pete Fowler (below) and maverick latterday shaman Marcus Coates — above, who's appearing in the Caught By The River nature tent. Music comes from Cherry Ghost, Talvin Singh and the excellent Fionn Regan among others, and there'll even be a fashion contingent that includes Anna Sui and Luella Bartley. Oh, and it's in Cornwall, not Wales, so it might not even rain, but we make no promises.

Port Festival, 23-25 July, St Germans, Cornwall. For tickets go to www.porteliotfestival.com
