Confidence-inspiring the coalition is not, but fodder for a good joke it most certainly is. We now have one of the youngest cabinets in living memory and it has inspired a glut of public school punch-up puns - the Gallery Of Wonderful’s latest offering being one of the best.

A limited edition of 25 dining tables - designed by Gallery of Wonderful, in cahoots with broadsheet cartoonist and satirist Martin Rowson - went on sale in London department store Selfridges yesterday. The tables come adorned with a range of Rowson’s trademark scribbles, each of which deride the new Whitehall setup in trademark acerbic form (a particular favourite features a caricature of Cameron referring to his Lib Dem counterpart as ‘poo face Clegg’).

The tables are made from chestnut in a nod to the 1950s school desks which inspired the project. A storage compartment is also hidden at the centre of each table, accessed by removing two inkwells situated on the top.

The limited edition Election Doodle Table is available exclusively at Loft Living at Selfridges, London and online at www.galleryofwonderful.com. Prices start at £9,600.
