In response to London’s ever-growing glut of hurriedly thought-out ‘contemporary art fairs’, London venue of the moment, Somerset House, will this month play host to the UK’s first contemporary graphic design fair, Pick Me Up.

Featuring an open studio from near-legendary cut-out paper artist, Rob Ryan – best known for his contemporary, wood-cut-inspired works - and a poster printing workshop from Print Club London (the products of which will then be sold at £50 a pop), Somerset House will also host a late night event on April 28, the aptly titled ‘Glug’, featuring talks from the likes of Mr Bingo, Jiggery Pokery and Emily Forgot – each of which will be lubricated by plenty of the strong stuff, we’re imagining.

All work on show at the fair, which opens today, is up for sale, so it’s an ideal opportunity to ‘pick yourself up’ a piece of one-off design from some of the best in the business. Seek out work by Hellovon, the British draughtsman's lucid images of everything from Lions to Roger Federer are well worth a look.
