On Thursday, Ithaa, the world’s first all-glass under-sea restaurant, celebrates its fifth anniversary by being transformed into an exclusive suite for two enabling guests to spend the night under-water – or sleep with the fishes.

The $5 million resturant, which is part of the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, sits a few metres below the waves of the Indian Ocean, surrounded by a vibrant coral reef and encased in clear glass. The 175-tonne structure was built on dry land and dropped into the ocean in one piece.

Ithaa is available for one-night stays including champagne dinner and breakfast based on two sharing. Other than its unique location, the only thing that might give you a sinking feeling is the price: £7,766 subject to availability and advance booking. For more, see www.conradmaldives.com
