Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Or is it a light shaped like a cup, saucer and spoon? It's the last one.

File this one under 'things that sound silly but actually look good'. This wall mounted lamp was designed by Ingo Maurer and Fabien Dumas. Both based in Germany, Maurer was born in Germany whilst Dumas was French born but moved to Gemany to study.

Maurer is the old hand of the two, having worked since the '60s. Dumas is the fresh blood, having created products for Maurer since 2004. Their latest work is the 'Light Au Lait' lamp.

Based, obviously, on a cup, saucer and spoon, it's one of those ideas that should look silly. Made from porcelain, it's a lamp that doesn't take itself too seriously. Well, not as seriously as any lamp could take itself.

The swivel design means it could be used as a strategically placed reading light or a softer hallway light when you aren't trying to shock your eyes into submission. And above all, it'd make for a quick and easy prank on any drunk friends.
