Designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958, the Egg chair has been given a brand new finish by Fritz Hansen. The new Golden Era, so named because of the volume of brilliant design work that came out of the Fifties, sees this timeless classic upholstered in a sand coloured cross stitched woven fabric with the seat pad in velvet and the base is in wet lacquered aluminium.
The good news is that the Golden Era chair comes in at £600 cheaper than the standard design. The bad news is that the price tag for the standard design is a whopping £4145. (Available from Aram Store, 110 Drury Lane, London; www.aramstore.co.uk)
