Bikers must be among those with special reason to dislike the winter’s promise of snow and sub-zero temperatures. With the launch of Harley Davidson's new Western Cape Experience Tour however, frozen bikers can now swap numb, wet feet for the balmy heat of South Africa.

The seven-night, 1000-mile trip is designed to combine the Harley Davidson open-road philosophy with the benefits of a luxury break.

Beginning in Cape Town, Riders travel down the coast then across the rugged landscape, covering miles of sandy coastline, historic fishing villages, extensive wine-lands and deep forests then back to Cape Town via the world’s Ostrich capital for a farewell dinner.

Harley Davidson provides its latest high-end model: the Electra Glide Ultra Limited, which combines a whopping 1700cc engine with a power point, audio player and cruise control. Evenings are spent at a selection of South Africa’s best restaurants, followed by accommodation at premier hotels and luxury hunting lodges. Breakfast, dinner, fuel and supplies are all inclusive. Harley Davidson is launching the tour with a £500 discount to all riders.

Prices start at £2,750 including flights, £1,885 without for riders (£1,834 or £1,342 for pillions). Face it: it’s got to be better than a quick post-Queen’s speech spin full of Christmas pud, half a bottle of cooking sherry and still wearing your paper hat.

Tours run weekly from Saturday-Sunday. For more details, visit www.harley-davidson.co.uk or call 01652 688410
