Oh Lord, won’t you buy us this Mercedes-Benz?

With the SLS AMG Coupé Black Series, the German marque has created a monster.

Lighter, faster and sexier than its predecessors, but with the same thrusting bonnet and iconic gull-wing doors (reborn in tribute to the legendary 300SL of 1954), the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series has been fitted out with the racetrack in mind.

AMG’s engineers have taken their inspiration from their competition-ready GT3 model, and so the Black Series is a production car that thinks it’s a racing car. Its enlarged engine is hand-built (bearing the signature of the engineer who fitted it) and can slam the coupé to 62mph in 3.6 seconds, it has a top speed of 196mph and the torque is — to use a scientific term — completely ridiculous.

It’s svelte, powerful, it purrs like a lion, and is described by Mercedes-Benz itself as an “angrier SLS”. As the old saying goes, once you go Black Series, you’ll never go back. And your friends will be jealous to the point of openly resenting you.
