As much a staple of our school playground days as conkers and Chinese burns, Top Trumps was one of childhood's simple pleasures. So when we heard that Mancunian-born designer Rick Banks had developed a font-themed homage to the classic card game, we were naturally keen to get our hands on a deck, serifs and all.
The punningly titled Type Trumps comprises 30 well-known fonts, divided into such categories as legibility, weights, and special power (Futura's appeal, for instance, is that it was Stanley Kubrick's typeface of choice). Whether this will resolve the "Helvetica or Arial?" debate once and for all remains to be seen.
