And that's by his own admission. The 34-year-old New Yorker and Esquire favourite has somehow managed to become both an anti-folk hero - or is that folk anti-hero? - with his quirky downbeat ditties (he's been signed to Rough Trade since 2001) and also a cult comic book artist.
As well as writing and drawing his own, once distributed around Brooklyn coffee shops, he's also something of a world expert on Alan Moore's Watchmen and recently lectured on it at London's Institute of Contemporary Arts. Therefore, the Waking-Life-meets-Rolf's-Cartoon-Club video for the existentialist musings of new track, "To Be Objectified", seems to be just about perfect.
