Fujifilm's New Outdoor Camera Could Be The First Thing On Your Holiday List

It might put anyone of a certain age in mind of Sony’s chunky original cassette-loading Sports Walkman from the early 1990s – but that’s a good thing, we’re saying.

Fujifilm’s FinePix XP200 is the latest addition to their outdoor camera range and it’s designed to be slung around at least as heartily as that old music machine from yesteryear: waterproof to 15m, shockproof to 2m and freezeproof to –10C , it also packs Wi-Fi to enable backup to your home PC and wireless image and video transfer to smartphones, tablets, etc – a genuine timesaver.

It shoots underwater HD video, has a 16 million pixel sensor and a hefty 3-inch LCD screen with anti-reflective coating.

Best of all it feels great to hold and a doddle to operate. Even if – as the promotional pictures make great play of suggesting – you happen to be wearing ski gloves.

The only thing it can’t do is play you’re old St Etienne and Wonderstuff tapes. Again: a good thing, we’re saying.

Out next month, via Fujifilm, £229.99.
