If Switzerland has been noted for its neutrality in the past, the recent output of Victorinox, the manufacturers of Swiss army knives and more pertinently a very bold clothing line, is anything but.

Under the aegis of artistic director Christopher Raeburn, the brand has gained our full attention, especially for Raeburn’s own military-inspired capsule collections.

Another label that’s been given the Raeburn treatment is high-end British cycling brand. Handy, because the wearers of their garments – that would be cyclists – are individuals whom you would think want to get noticed, certainly by other road users.

For us, the standout piece in Raeburn’s second (and reported to be final) team-up with Rapha is this, the Transfer Jacket. Designed no doubt with thoughts of a quilted military field jacket in the back of Raeburn’s head, it features flashes of orange and red and reflective piping that very deliberately won’t blend in with their surroundings.

Lightweight, insulated and windproof, it features a zip-away hood and can be stashed in its own back pocket.

£400, Rapha
