Keys, eh? They're like a Joni Mitchell song - you don't know how much you need them until they've gone walkies. Thankfully, someone else feels the same way and they've done something about it.

The Matarile was created by Spanish designer Tomas Bedos. A wooden block is fitted with a magnetic strip that allows keys and coins to attach themselves to it. A graduate of the Barcelona Elisava School of Design, Bedos has a bit of a thing for hanging things - his other creation was a coat hook made from corkscrews.

It's nice to know that Bedos feels the same way we do about key bowls - they're the Domino's of key storage. They sound like a good idea at first but that feeling quickly fades.

Some swear by the trouser pocket of course but noone likes the bit when you have to go through everything you've worn in the last 4 days before you leave the house.

Any attempts to improve this neglected area of everyday life should be encouraged.
