Upgrade Your Separates

Hi-fi separates are so 1993. Now you can get it all in one place.

Q I love my high-end audio and have an expensive separates system. But, with multiple controllers, miles of wiring as well as the space all those individual units take up, it’s getting a bit of a faff. I need to slim things down but keep the quality.

A It’s an understandable ailment for an audiophile to envy those all-in-one dock solutions. So, rejoice — über-brand Naim has developed a high-end one-box marvel called the SuperUniti that should drastically reduce the separate count in your hi-fi cabinet (in fact, you can probably do away with the cabinet altogether).

It offers everything (deep breath): wireless network streaming (even handling large Apple Lossless files); digital, FM and internet radios; a stereo output amplifier; digital-to-analogue conversion for stunning sound from your MP3s; docking ports for your iDevices included in the generous 10 input sockets, and, of course, an alarm clock.

Naim says it is “louder for bigger rooms”, which is perhaps the understatement of the year. The SuperUniti thumps out glorious soundscapes at up to 120W per channel that will impress novices and experts alike. (£3,250, Naim Audio)
