Always craved a canary yellow camera? Thanks to Pentax and Marc Newson, today’s your lucky day.

Matt black, lacklustre silver or bland metallic: the three go-to camera colourways for even the most avant-garde manufacturers. It’s a relief, then, that the new Pentax K-01, designed by Marc Newson, manages to combine refreshingly bold looks with impeccable craftsmanship and superior snapping technology.

Newson’s CV includes roles as creative director of Qantas and designer of everything from speedboats to spaceships. No wonder he’s managed to create our new favourite camera. Note the chunky controls and lens-release button shaped into the corner of the housing.

Then there’s the stats: 16.28MP, HD video recording, six frame-per-second burst-shooting mode, 3in LCD monitor and, best of all, the lens is interchangeable with any other Pentax lens you fancy using. (It’s also available in black and silver.) (From £630, pentax.co.uk)
