Following the controversial sale of Dennis Hopper's Easy Rider chopper for $1.3m, we round up the other movies vehicles that have fetched a hefty price at auction, from Bond to Bueller to Back to The FutureMore
Sold for: $230,000 in 2013
Those of you saying “but it fell through the back of…” we hear you. And you’ll be happy to know that the car has since been fully restored since then. What you should also know is that the car used in the film is in fact a replica of the California Spyder and three different ones were used for filming.
Sold for: $541,000 in 2011
Used in all three instalments of Back To The Future, the privately auctioned DMC-12 fetched $541,000 in 2011 – with a portion of the proceeds going towards the franchise star Michael J. Fox’s Foundation for Parkinson’s research. Originally hitting the market in 1981, not even John Delorean himself could have imagined the sports car would become the face of one of the most beloved film franchises of all time. We still remember seeing Doc unleash the gleaming grey vehicle in a dark parking lot like it was yesterday.
