If you want to make a six-figure salary, learn how to cut hair and move to France. There's just one catch: you'll have to be hired by the French government to cut the president's hair.

According to Bloomberg, a French government spokesman confirmed today that the country shells out 9,895 euros a month (£8,307) to Francois Hollande's hairdresser to keep his balding pate trimmed.

That's over £99,036 a year to cut one guy's hair. One socialist guy. Who, we might add, doesn't exactly have much hair to cut. And the French government's defence for such loose spending? "Everyone needs their hair done, no?" Touche.

It's not that we don't appreciate the skills of a great barber, it's just that five figures for a haircut is a tad obscene. Especially when tax dollars (even if they're French tax dollars) are in play.

Not that British politicians are any better - let's not forget the expenses scandal - in fact, come to think of it, has anyone checked how much we're paying for Boris' exhausted hay bale every month?
