The beard-off guide

Sporting a beard may have been acceptable during the recession (who didn’t feel like hiding behind a wall of facial fuzz?) but, now that things are beginning to look a bit brighter (we’re wearing colour for Christ’s sake!) it’s time to face the world again. If it’s been so long since you last shaved that you can no longer tell your shaving bowl from your post shave-balm, Matt Raine (AKA Mr Natty; session hairdresser and groomer) is here to show you the ropes.

Mr Natty’s Beard-Off Guide

1 Give your beard a comb first, to detangle.
2 Next, use the clippers to take off “waste hair”.
3 When shaving your face after a long time with a beard, preparation is key. Use a wet hot towel or a Flannel, or, alternatively, splash your face with warm water.
4 Apply a face scrub to exfoliate the skin and get rid of built up dead skin and dirt. Following this, apply Mr Natty Shave oil massage into the whisker area, remembering to massage well.
5 Next, take to your face with a fresh razor and shave like a demon barber.
6 Once finished, rinse well.
7 Next, give yourself a quick going over with an alum block, which will close pores.
8 Add a few blobs of your moisturiser and MASSAGE.
9 Finally, give yourself a quick spritz of your favorite Cologne and bingo – Go forth!
