With nostril-stripping offerings from the likes of Ed Hardy, Usher and Donald Trump saturating the scent market, it comes as a relief to announce the launch of Comme des Garçons' newest fragrance, Wonderwood.
Consistently breaking ground in the constricted world of fashion, Rei Kawakubo - the Japanese brand's founder and creative director - has conscripted in renowned stop-motion animators, the Brothers Quay, to produce a one-off film in line with the launch.
Inspired by the woody notes of the new fragrance, the film - true to surreal Kawakubo form - features an otherworldly Pinocchio-esque character "who loved wood more than words could say". The nose behind the latest scent clearly felt the same.
Wonderwood will be available from Selfridges and Dover Street Market from June 24th.
