Wine for the weekend - Penfolds Cabernet Sauvignon

We’ve checked the weather forecast (repeatedly), and this bank holiday is set to be a scorcher. Possibly. Either way, barbecues are soon to be unpacked across the country, so we’ve found the perfect red to pair with accidentally incinerated steak. Penfolds — makers of Australia’s legendary (and eye wateringly expensive) Grange — has a stable of hugely drinkable reds. This cabernet sauvignon is full-bodied, spicy and filled with flavours of black fruits, with intriguing chocolately/coffee richness. It’s butch enough to stand up to flame-grilled food, smart enough to take to a party and, at around a tenner, is supremely good value. £10.60 (
