Feeling confident in your masculinity? Of course you are. so a lavender fragrance should present no problem at all then.
One of the most versatile ingredients in the fragrance world, lavender has long been overlooked due to some dodgy cultural associations (2004’s big-screen melodrama Ladies in Lavender being a case in point). Now, perfumers are beginning to reacquaint themselves with the essential oil — which can also be used as an antiseptic — and it’s cropping up in some of the most noteworthy men’s scents of the moment.
The latest addition to Tom Ford’s Private Blend collection, Lavender Palm, combines the softest, woodiest elements of the note with a breezy citrusy top and mossy green base, while Chanel’s Jersey is made with lavender from the Channel Islands. Yes, it may look a bit girly, but when used well the scent is deep, complex and surprisingly subtle. Here are four testosterone-charged fragrances that do lavender justice.
