Inside out? Cold wash? Hand wash? Never wash? There are rules to washing your jeans, as Jean Touitou, founder of APC, explains. “To wash my jeans, I put them in the bath with warm water and either APC Fine Fabric Care detergent or household soap,|" says Touitou. "Here are a few more washes designed to help your jeans keep colour and shape.”
Leave your jeans unwashed for as long as you (and others) can stand. First wash: dry clean. Following washes: soak for about an hour with a little Woolite Extra Dark, a detergent that helps maintain colour. Rinse, roll in a towel and hang up to dry.
Soak your jeans for about an hour in water mixed with Woolite Extra Dark; don’t scrub. Rinse, wring and hang to dry.
Machine wash on a delicate cycle at 30ºC with Woolite Extra Dark. Do not spin.
Leave your jeans unwashed for as long as you can. Then get in the sea with them on. Swim, rub with dry sand, and repeat. Finally rinse in fresh (not salt) water and dry in the sun.
