You might have seen frightening Black Friday footage of a grown woman wrestling a TV from a child in Minnesota and thought it wasn't your cup of tea, but in fact there's plenty of non-violent ways to get a good deal.
Black Friday and sibling holiday Cyber Monday have gathered momentum in the last few years and spread to the UK. The festival of capitalism began in the US when bored and turkey-filled Americans ventured out after Thanksgiving to spend their holiday shopping. It's now the biggest retail day of the year and the day retailers begin to turn a profit going from being "in the red" to being "in the black".
This year Black Friday falls on 24 November with Cyber Monday on 27 November.
But it's not just this weekend of action, there are deals across the month of November with flash sales and discounts to help you stock up on Christmas presents or treats for yourself.
Last year, consumers spent £810 million in online purchases alone on Black Friday, and a further £720 million three days later on Cyber Monday. In short, it's big.
Here are some of the retailers to keep and eye out for this year.
Aspinal of London
Aspinal is offering 20% off full price items until Midnight on Cyber Monday.
Whistles will be running 20% off full price items from 26 November through to Cyber Monday.
House of Fraser
The department store will be offering 50% off selected fashion, beauty and homeware lines in store and online from 5pm on 25 November to 29 November. They will also be offering further savings online for Cyber Monday, from 8am on 30 November.

Nike haven't confirmed whether they will officially be taking part in Black Friday celebrations though in previous years they have slashed prices on men's and women's leisure and sportswear. In the mean time sale bargains can be picked up here such as Nike Air Max Zero SE down from £109.95 to £76.47 or the customisable Nike Roshe Two Flyknit iD from £124.95 to £93.47.
John Lewis is yet to announce its exact offers, but keep an eye online and in store on Friday 27 November. The store will stick to its commitment of being 'never knowingly undersold'; so if it's discounted elsewhere, the prices will be matched or beaten here.
Thomas Pink have 20% off everything from Friday to Monday, both menswear and womenswear.
Superdrug have already launched a great range of grooming deals on their Black Friday deals page such as Lacoste L12 12 Noir Eau de Toilette 175ml down frmo £70.00 to £35.00 or Dolce & Gabbana The One For Men Eau De Toilette 50ml from £50.00 to £40.00
Ahead of their surprise deals on the big day, ASOS have up to 70% off menswear online.
Though they're terming it their Autumn sale, the luxury luggage brand Samsonite are still offering up to 50% reductions on a range of different sized suitcases.
