Launched in 1999, the basic design of Chanel’s classic J12 wristwatch has changed very little over the past 14 years.
The luxury brand wasn’t the first to introduce high-shine ceramic materials to watches (that honour falls to Rado), but they certainly popularised it — J12s have sold in their thousands.
The latest addition to the brand’s ever expanding stable is this, the J12 GMT Matte Black. Manufactured entirely from super-hardwearing ceramic, this manly take on the original features a GMT movement — the hour hand can be adjusted independently from the minute hand; great for travelling — is water-resistant to 100m, boasts a super thin bezel, and most significantly comes in a very Dark Knight shade of sandblasted matte black. All of which makes it Chanel’s greatest little black invention. Well, after a certain dress and jacket, that is.
