In 1999 Esau Mwamwaya from Malawi moves to London and starts running a junk shop. He sells a bike to Etienne Tron from France. Etienne from France invites Essau from Malawi to a party, and introduces him to his friend - and co-founder of production team, Radioclit - Johan Karlberg from Sweden. Thus, The Very Best is born.
The resulting album, Warm Heart Of Africa, released today, is very much as the title suggests - uplifting, cheerful, infectiously percussive and not without the odd moment of beautiful spareness (check out track five, "Nsokoto"). There are some familiar collaborators too - Ezra Koenig from Vampire Weekend sings on the title track and M.I.A. on "Raindance", both of whom featured on last year's breakthrough mixtape, Esau Mwamwaya And Radioclit Are The Very Best. Below is a video "Warm Heart Of Africa" performed live and you can hear more at www.myspace.com/theverybestmyspace).
