Where would Lacoste be without the crocodile? One of the greatest logos in fashion was inspired by a 1925 Davis Cup match the result of which had a crocodile skin suitcase riding on it.
René Lacoste didn’t win, but a journalist, George Caren, subsequently wrote that he’d “fought like a crocodile” and so inspired Lacoste to adopt a crocodile as his personal motif. Lacoste’s latest range of nine sneakers is inspired by crocodile myths from around the world and the different styles will be released over April, May and June. The Ibiza Amazonia model (pictured), which can claim to take its design cues from the black crocodile in Brazil will be released in June. £95, only available at Size and Offspring
