The not-so-humble espadrille

It’s tough to find the right shoes for summer, because most leather shoes (trainers or otherwise) look and feel too hot.

Bear with us, but the espadrille might just be the answer. While they’re commonly available in continental supermarkets at prices so modest you’ll be happy to chuck them at the end of your holiday, this fantastic version from Hermes almost make us want to pay the extra. A nod to the old days when espadrilles were laced around the ankle, but without weird lacing around the ankle, these are perfect for the beach. But then at £235, we might just wait until the hypermarchés catch up.
