If summer 2013 was owned by the Scandinavian slick-back, the winter to come is about an altogether more comfortable look. Though a sharply shaved back and sides combined with a strictly combed, wet-look top can look boyishly neat (see Becks and Gosling for proof), it’s not an easy cut to maintain. We already showed you how to steal Justin Timberlake's neat sweep – here's a breezier alternative for the curly-haired man.
The Dishevelled Slick-Back
By Carmelo Guastella, master barber at Dolce & Gabbana
What to ask for: “With wavy hair you need to be careful chopping in too much, so no clippers. This style is far removed from the short-sides look a lot of guys go for at the moment. Leave some fullness, but define the hair around the edges.”
Who should have it: “This style caters for men with naturally wavy or curly hair. It’s relaxed; you don’t need strong wax as this will weigh it down, and you don’t need to use a hairdryer as it will frizz up. It’s a good style for guys who like no fuss.”
Where to wear it: “A suit; it’s kind of relaxed-formal.”
