The Lanieri Pop-Up at Old Street Station

Italian tailoring service introduces 3D body scans for perfect fit

For years, Old Street station was more than just forgettable, it was miserable. Now however the spidery concourse is abundant with boutiques, bistros and pop-up stores. The latest to arrive is Lanieri, which opened this week and runs until 8 November.

The company was founded in 2011 when five friends came to the conclusion that the internet was missing something, and decided to set up an online business selling 100% Italian made-to-measure suits. If you buy online, you input 10 self-taken measurements, choose from a plethora of fine Italian cloth, single out your preferred design touches, and your suit arrives in four weeks. But if you visit the Old Street store, you can speak with the founders, rifle through the samples and even submit your frame to a 3D body scanner, which guarantees to take your exact measurements. Said figures are kept on file for any future purchases, which is a jolly handy cherry on a thoroughly modern cake.
