One of the seasonal highlights at London Collections: Men – the Capital’s biannual men’s fashion week – is British designer James Long’s show.
Known for his sartorial take on sports wear, Long’s collections are consistently well received. From last season’s cropped denim jackets and light satin bombers featuring bright strips of coloured ribbon stitched down seems; to AW’14’s brilliant textured bombers, bobbled jumpers and elastic-cuffed trousers – Long’s clothes are fresh and notably wearable.
For Spring Summer ’15 Long has teamed up with high street stalwart River Island to produce a capsule collection as part of the brand’s Design Forum scheme.
Made up of completely unique items, highlights of the ten-piece collection include a hooded bomber, an oversized, conceptually illustrated T-shirt and neoprene joggers.
"I think it’s an exciting time for menswear in the UK," said Long, "so it seemed like the perfect time to collaborate with River Island. We both knew that we could create a line that is perfect for the modern man, and each piece is something special that you can mix into an eclectic wardrobe."
The collection, will launch in earnest at London Collections: Men in January 2015, and go on sale in selected stores in February. Prices will range from £28-£90.
