It seems like one of those ‘why didn’t they think of this before’ moments, but Mr. Porter has just launched its new athletic and performance category, MR. PORTER SPORT.
To be fair, it’s perfect timing. As you know, men are more concerned with their wardrobe than ever before, and that collective sartorial eye has finally turned its gaze to the contents of our gym bags. Gone are the days of wearing your sixth form rugby shorts to the gym, and those saggy jogging bottoms you sport for cold morning runs into work are not normcore - you just look like the vicar at a village fete. No, you need kit that not only flatters your frame (and compliments your style), but also really works. Thankfully, there’s now a one-stop-shop for it all.
Covering eight disciplines (running, swimming, cycling, sailing, tennis, golf, outdoor and training) and offering accessories, tech and supplements, it’s a properly considered, comprehensive range. ‘We have approached MR PORTER SPORT in much the same way that we have always approached things on a wider retail level: putting the customer experience first,’ says Toby Bateman, the website’s buying Director, ‘and the diversity of our product offering is unique, we’re the only retailer where you can buy both Brioni and Arc’teryx, for example.’
As you might expect from Mr. Porter, a number of exclusive products feature in the new range, including a ready-to-ride bike from Condor, a brand known best for its incredible bespoke designs. There are less well-known brands too, such as Iffley Road, the running kit designers with a passion for pared-back style and technical performance, and Newton Running, the Colorado shoe company.
There’s over 150 new products (and more on the way including ski and surf kit), so we’ve selected our ten best pieces from the range. Game on.
