The problem with running shoes

For some reason, running shoe design doesn't seem to have progressed as much in the style stakes as some of its other sports shoe cousins. Some brands still seem to base their collection on the same ugly mesh, bulky soles and OTT detailing that have barely changed since you last did school PE. At least, some are making an effort to mix things up, like Puma's new FAAS collection.

Featuring their BioRide™ technology the FAAS 500 (£75, pictured) provide comfort and support whilst remaining as lightweight as possible. Puma have spent years analysing the world's best runners and have narrowed down the secrets to athletic prowess. 'Rocker, Flex & Groove' might sound a like clever marketing ruse, but these words actually represents the characteristics that have been applied to these shoes; ensuring the highest possible performance.

You also get to choose from a range of bright colours, including the JAM range, which pay respect to the homeland of the fastest man in the world. If only Puma would give us grandmother Bolt's infamous yam recipe too. www.prodirectrunning.com
