Diego Armando Maradona, he of the magic feet, bouffant hair and most famous middle name in football, reaches his half century on Saturday. Given the little one's zest for life, that he's made it this far should probably be news enough. But there's more - to honour the landmark, Puma, longtime supplier of his weapons of choice, Puma's "King" boots, is launching a special collection of King Diego products.
“I wore PUMA throughout my career as they were the boots that were most comfortable and gave me the greatest contact with the ball," said Diego at a party in his honour at his Buenos Aires home. "It’s nice to see the quality of these boots and training wear are still top quality.” As part of the event catering, PUMA presented a giant cake in the shape of a PUMA King football boot. What else?
The PUMA Diego collection will be available from Saturday 30 October in retailers worldwide. For more information, visit www.puma.com/football
